1. Agreement
These Terms form an agreement between you and Calen Drosk (“Roka,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using Roka, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Roka.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally able to enter this agreement and meet the minimum age required for an online service where you live. Provide accurate account information, keep your credentials secure, and promptly tell us if you suspect unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.
3. What Roka provides
Roka is a community service where climbers can maintain profiles, publish climbing posts and clips, exchange comments and answers, follow other users, and communicate through messages. Features may change as we improve the service.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give Roka a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt for technical formatting, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, improve, secure, and promote the Roka service. This license ends when your content is deleted, except where copies must remain for legal, safety, backup, or integrity reasons.
You must have the rights and permissions needed to post your content. Do not upload private information about another person, copyrighted material you cannot use, or images and videos of people without appropriate permission.
5. Community conduct
You may not use Roka to:
- harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, or discriminate against others;
- publish unlawful, sexually exploitative, hateful, dangerously misleading, or privacy-invasive content;
- spam users, manipulate engagement, distribute malware, or interfere with the service;
- encourage unsafe conduct while presenting it as professional climbing or medical instruction;
- evade blocks, suspensions, moderation decisions, or security controls; or
- use automated methods to scrape, copy, or access Roka without our written permission.
6. Moderation, reporting, and blocking
Roka provides tools to report content, messages, and accounts, and to block users. We may review reports and remove content, limit visibility, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, or comply with law. We are not required to host any particular content and may preserve relevant records while a safety or legal matter is reviewed.
7. Climbing risk
Climbing and related training involve inherent risks, including serious injury or death. Posts, route descriptions, grades, beta, training comments, and messages on Roka are user-generated community information, not professional instruction or a guarantee that a climb, location, technique, or piece of equipment is safe. Assess conditions yourself, use appropriate equipment, follow facility and local rules, seek qualified instruction, and make independent safety decisions.
8. Third-party services and places
Roka may rely on third-party infrastructure and may contain references to gyms, crags, events, links, or services we do not control. Their availability, practices, and content are their responsibility. Follow access rules, land restrictions, weather guidance, closures, and applicable law.
9. Account deletion and termination
You can request deletion from Profile → Account → Delete account. You may stop using Roka at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for material or repeated violations, serious safety risks, unlawful conduct, or threats to the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will remain effective, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
10. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, Roka is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, the accuracy of user content, that another user is who they claim to be, or that any climbing information or location is safe. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Roka and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, loss of opportunity, or harm resulting from reliance on community content or participation in climbing activities. Any liability that cannot be excluded is limited to the maximum extent allowed by applicable law.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms as Roka changes. We will post the updated Terms and revise the effective date. If required, we will provide additional notice before a material change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
